The Sunday Hangover – Lineland

My good friend Rocky Horror is in town, and it is his first visit to the great city of Chicago. We’ve been doing our best to show him a great time which often entails a lot of this and a whole lot of this.

After a weekend of eating and drinking ourselves into major organ failure, it’s nice to unravel my brain with a little Lineland. This instrumental electronic outfit makes beautiful and simple songs that often marry folksy acoustic guitar picking with glitchy lo-fi drums, tons of shakers and auxiliary percussion, and slightly detuned synths. This mixture of sounds somehow perfectly mirrors the state of my brain after a long party-fueled weekend.

Out on Dregs Recordings, the 2011 release, Logos for Love is on my list of favorite albums of the year so far.
