The Sunday Hangover: Colin Blunstone – Smokey Day

This has been one of my favorite songs for going on 10 years now. I keep coming back to it. It’s so beautiful and amazing, and could possibly be the perfect “Sunday Hangover” song. With Smokey Day, Colin Blunstone hits a moment of true beauty on his solo record “One Year” which was produced by ex-Zombies members, Chris White, and the incredible, Rod Argent. Some of the other songs on the album seem a bit uninspired and almost unpalatable to a rampant Zombies fan, but Smokey Day proves that Blunstone’s voice still had that inexplicable wistfulness and melancholy that helped legitimize The Zombies as one of the greatest pop bands of all time.
