Friday From the Vault: The Bee Gees – I’ve Gotta Get a Message to You

I thought I’d give you guys a little pre-disco Bee Gees for this lovely, sunny Friday! Check out that sweet video from Soundstage in Chicago from 1975. Totally awesome.

I love this song, because it represents a different Bee Gees than the fevered up, all night disco, crack smoking, coke snorting, bell-bottomed, hair-in-a-perm band with which most people are familiar. Not that THAT Bee Gees was bad. It’s just that these guys were pop geniuses before they were disco kings, and this song is definite proof of exactly that.

I’m late for work, so I’m not going to write a whole lot more than that. Just know that this song is one of my favorites,  and the flip side of this lovely little 7″ is called “Kitty Can,” which is also an amazing pop gem in this same vein. I picked this record up at a very weird, very large antique store in Augusta, GA called, “Bazaar.” It was sandwiched between Master’s paraphernalia and some kind of weird mannequin (wearing Master’s paraphernalia…)

Listen to a track from that album:
